The Eurock Post-Symphony. Digital reissue of CD-album MIR/Eurock 2017-2018.

The brand new 50th album by Mikhail Chekalin entitled The Eurock Post-Symphony is a remarkable Dark Impressionist Ambient-Electronic Symphony. It celebrates the collaboration between Chekalin and myself to reissue the back catalog of his music created during the Soviet era, as well as newer works composed since Glasnost and the demise of the USSR. A hauntingly beautiful work the music is comprised of dense walls of sound, dark ambient synthetics, surreal shifts in mood and powerful melodic themes laced with vibrant tone colors. The music was initially sent to me on my 70th birthday in January. The premiere broadcast of the work on radio occurred on my Music From Around The World in the USA on February 9, 2018. I first heard Mikhail's music in 1980 when a Russian deep-sea-diver began sending me from Estonia packages of music and art posters during those years. In 1989 he sent me a copy of Chekalin's groundbreaking LP Post-Pop-Non-Pop. Over time he also sent me other later releases by Chekalin as well.

Post-Millennium, Mikhail himself discovered my name on the International Music Jet-stream around & made contact. Soon after, in 2005, we embarked on a reissue of his back catalog, as well as new music creating a personal boutique label named MIR (which means Peace in Russian). Since that time we've collaborated & produced a total of 50-albums. In addition 4-DVDs, 2 of which feature Live concert footage done as part of Unofficial Music & Light Installations during the Soviet era. The DVDs also feature animated short films & artist gallery exhibitions, all digitized from original film by Mikhail personally. His complete catalog is are available now via Amazon Worldwide. Chekalin's sound and style are completely unique. He is a master at fusing progressive with jazz, classical, symphonic & electronic elements into compositions that are uniquely different from Western Prog or other European electronic music. In some sense when you listen, The Eurock Post-Symphony serves as a perfect soundtrack for the world as we know it today tilting on the edge of the abyss. More than that however, some of its beautifully evocative themes and warm melodies also convey the power and emotional resonance great music always has offered in the Beginning, Today & Whenever/ Whatever Tomorrow brings. The Eurock Post-Symphony is an old-school immaculate conception. All the music you hear was composed, performed live, recorded & mixed by Mikhail Chekalin, no digital synthesizers were used.

about

Mikhail Chekalin / Михаил Чекалин Moscow, Russia

Mikhail Chekalin is one of those. Arguably he is the most influential modern composer of the last 35 years in the former USSR, now Russia.
Over the span of his career Chekalin has produced some 30+ works that range the sonic spectrum for Post Pop, to free-jazz, electronic, and Post Symphonic. While his music was known to me since the 1980s/
